Chris Krieg

  • Chris Krieg is a nationally known artist, muralist, and sign painter. Growing up in the SF Bay Area, California in the 60s and 70s where outdoor billboard advertising flourished, Krieg became engrossed in the art of advertising and painting on a grand scale. This was long before computer graphics so all of his work was done freehand. He enrolled at the Los Angeles Art Center College of Design to learn the art of illustration. In 1981, the artist moved to New York City where he painted wall signs and murals. After moving to Colorado in 1990, he continued to paint murals, wall signs as well as billboards and canvases.

Krieg’s art ranges from gracing skyscrapers with murals and canvases of all sizes in a wide assortment of eclectic materials. His artwork is created using fine ground oils, enamels and acrylics, while others have distinct combinations of materials and color applications.

Each piece is unique, evoking emotion and prompting conversation. He runs Altitude Murals with his son, William Krieg. Krieg lives in Evergreen, Colorado. You can see his work at ChrisKriegArt.com or AltitudeMurals.com.
